Jellick Changes Dismissal Times To Improve Instruction Even Further

Jellick Elementary will modify their dismissal schedule beginning September 15, 2014 to allow teachers time to collaborate around Common Core State Standards (CCSS). CCSS are more rigorous than previous CA State Standards. Therefore, students will be challenged as never before.

A noticeable change with CCSS are the Four C's: Creativity, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and Communication. Classroom instruction is changing, and teachers need time to work in groups to review student progress, identify and plan effective instructional strategies, and learn new teaching methods.

Most RUSD elementary schools have an early release for this purpose. Jellick was recently offered the opportunity to select an early release to support student achievement. While any change in schedules are challenging, the staff of Jellick Elementary pledge to wisely use this time to grow professionally and support our students.
