Jellick Begins New Safety Protocol

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! We are excited to welcome you and your child to Jellick Elementary. The safety of our students and staff continues to be a top priority in the Rowland Unified School District. This summer,we have implemented a new visitor management system to ensure that individuals visiting and interacting on our campuses are properly welcomed and signed in. Across the District, the new Raptor Visitor Management System has replaced the old paper visitor sign-in sheets. As part of this new system, all visitors to our school sites and District Office are required to present valid photo identification for check-in. Accepted forms of identification include:

● Any state-issued driver’s license or identification card
● Matrícular Consular Card
● Military ID (active duty or retired)
● Permanent Resident Card
● Passport

Should you not currently have any of the forms of identification noted above, please know we want you involved in your child’s education and are welcome at our school. Please bring another photo identification card/document to school office to use for check in while you work to secure one of the required forms of identification. Our front office staff will scan the identification provided and the Raptor system instantly checks the name against the national database of registered sex offenders. Once cleared, a visitor badge is printed with the name, photo, and destination. The visitor badge must be returned to the front office at the conclusion of the visit. Visitors will not be required to complete this process for those simply dropping off/picking up items from the office. If signing out a student prior to dismissal, visiting a location on campus, or to volunteer in a classroom, identification will be needed.

Please note the Raptor system only scans the visitor’s name, date of birth, and photo – no additional information is collected, stored or shared. The Raptor system is not connected to other databases and school information is not shared with other agencies.

If you do not have a government-issued form of identification, here are some resources to assist you:

● For a CA License or ID Card, visit a local DMV office or go to www.dmv.org
● For a Military ID Card, please go to www.cac.mil/uniformed-services-id-card/
● For a Permanent Resident Card, please go to www.uscis.gov/i-90

Thank you for working with us to keep our schools and students safe. We value parent/guardian involvement at our schools and appreciate your support. If you have further questions about the implementation of this system, please contact me. For more information on the Raptor Visitor Management System, please visit www.raptortech.com.

Sincerely,
